Very charismatic, particularly loyal and attached, the Russian Blue breed tends to have a natural sense of responsibility and good behaviour. They are affectionate to the point where they can even immediately detect their owner’s mood and change their own accordingly. If they see you’re sad, they get worried; and the moment you start to smile, they become playful again.
They are perfect for urban flats, small families and pet owners who live alone. Although they are affectionate, their serenity allows them to spend long hours alone without getting bored or sad. Nevertheless, their hunter’s instinct will appreciate contact with nature in a courtyard or a garden.
They are like movie stars, beautiful animals that leave an impression. Their owners, no matter how used to their presence, can spend hours watching and admiring them. It is precisely their coat that is the main attraction: so thick (with two dense layers) and shiny. Their colour is also one of a kind: an intense bluish grey, with silver highlights on the tips. But their fancy coat does require high maintenance: you have to brush it frequently, with a thick and firm toothed comb; and bathe them once a month, and every 15 days during shedding season. Their eyes also have an intense green-emerald colour.
